What & Why?

So what, exactly, is Swap? It’s a women's clothing exchange that cleans out our closets and shares the wealth with our friends and communities – and bonus, we disrupt the fast fashion overconsumption cycle! All proceeds from Swap as well as clothing donations benefit local organizations for underserved women.

Get new-to-you fashion to freshen up your closet for 2026, do good and have fun at the same time! Why wouldn’t you choose to get in on Swap?!

Who's Invited?

★ You and your female-identifying pals! Please feel free to invite friends and help us get the word out!

★ This is a community event - please no re-sellers.

How Does It Work?

★ Clean out your closet – grab those fabulous items you just haven’t been wearing or that don’t fit you just right.

★ Prepare them for Swap (see below on how to do this).

★ Bring your items to Dropoff on Friday evening.

★ Show up the next day ready to try things on – and go home with fun and fabulous new items!

What Can I Swap?

We accept items from any season or era in great used condition.
Please NO:

★ Holes

★ Tears

★ Stains

★ Pitting

★ Pilling

★ Pet hair

★ Stinkiness

What items are NOT accepted?

★ Items with any of the above issues

★ Undergarments (underwear, bras, negligees)

★ Socks

How many items should I bring? How many can I take?

We ask that you bring a minimum of 10 items (Note: 'Goop' items are excluded and do not count toward the ten item minimum). There’s no limit on how many items you can take home with you: we want you to revel in the abundance. We trust that you will be generous with each other and take only what you need.

How Do I Prepare My Items for Swap?

Should my items be hung, folded, or how should I prepare them?

★ Please see the guide below for helpful tips on how to prepare each type of item we accept at Swap.

How exactly do I hang my stuff?

★ Hang your items on hangers so that when you are facing the front of the item it looks like a question mark (?)

★ Please do NOT use wire hangers as they can cause a tangled mess!

Where can I get my hands on some hangers?

★ We’ve got a whole bunch! They will be available starting Monday, February 16th in the lobby of the Phinney Neighborhood Association (blue building).

★ Other good sources for cheap hangers: The Dollar Store, Fred Meyer, Ikea, Facebook Marketplace, Buy Nothing.

★ And, if you have non-wire hangers to donate, we'd love to have them! Please bring them to the Phinney Center and add them to our bin, or contact us at Swapanistas@gmail.com to arrange pickup.

How do I prepare my jewelry?

★ Use the handy dandy guide below!

★ Cardboard jewelry cards will be available in the lobby of the Phinney Center (near the hangers) starting on February 16th. If you can put your earrings and necklaces onto these cards, you'll save our jewelry organizers a lot of work!

★ Pro-tip: Save junk mail envelopes to use to bundle your jewelry and reduce our plastic footprint.

★ Once all your jewelry items are prepared, please put them all together in a small bag or box.

How do I prepare my other accessories?

★ Do you have belts, scarves, hats, shoes, etc? Please use the guide below.

★ Once prepared, put all your accessory items in a separate bag.

So ... what exactly is 'Goop'?

No, we are not expecting Gwyneth to show up! Goop refers to health & beauty products that maybe just didn't work for you but are in great condition and are not expired. Think: hair & skin products; makeup; fragrance; etc.

What Is the Drop-off Process?

When & Where

Friday, March 13, 2026

5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Upper Parking lot of Phinney Neighborhood Association (Blue Building)

6532 Phinney Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103

The Process

★ Please bring your items prepped for Swap as described above. If it’s rainy, please try to cover them so they don’t get wet.

★ Drive into the parking lot of the blue building and look for a white canopy near the building. This is where you will check in and drop off your items.

★ We will have 2-4 parking spots reserved near the building. Look for Swap signage and park in those spots, or elswhere if they are full.

★Once you've parked, there will be volunteers on hand to receive your items and help with transport from your car as needed.

★ Once you have checked in and have given your items to our volunteers, you can leave.

★ Volunteers will perform a friendly fashion filter that will weed out items that do not qualify them for Swap. These items will be donated.

Can’t make it to Drop-off?

★ We urge everyone who can to drop off their items on Friday evening at Drop-off.

★ If you can't make it, consider asking a friend to drop off your stuff.

★ If you really can’t make it to Drop-off, you can email us at Swapanistas@gmail.com to arrange early drop-off.
